Head of the Bob Shapell School of Social Work
Prof. Belle Gavriel-Fried serves as the current Head of the Bob Shapell School of Social Work. Prof. Gavriel-Fried is a leading scholar in the field of
addiction and recovery, with a particular focus on the socio-cultural dimensions of gambling behavior in Israeli society. She established and directed the Addiction and Recovery Lab at Tel Aviv University, and her work combines quantitative and qualitative methods within holistic and strengths-based frameworks.
Prof. Gavriel-Fried has held research appointments at Yale University’s Department of Psychiatry and at the National Addiction Center at King’s College London. Through her extensive international collaborations, she continues to advance innovative approaches that bridge theoretical research with effective practice in the field of addiction recovery.
